I like how they're not just sitting around, but mixing up the activities every day. Depending on the weather, they'll take the little ones outside to get some fresh air. I also value the focus on keeping the kids active, both physically and mentally. They help with homework and engage them in mental exercises. During the before and after care, I appreciate the professional staff who pick up the children from school. They seem very professional, don't play favorites, and genuinely show care for the children's well-being and safety.

I've been a member at the YMCA for the past 20 years, and I've been frequenting the Bear Glasgow YMCA ever since it opened. My family and I are huge fans of the Y and its staff! We feel incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful facility in our community.

I typically visit the Middletown YMCA, but I decided to give this gym a try. As a gay man myself, I felt incredibly welcomed and accepted by everyone here. It was a great experience working out with some attractive twinks and jocks. I even had the opportunity to flirt with some guys in the locker room and exchange numbers, which was a pleasant surprise! The indoor and outdoor pools are well-maintained and clean. Overall, I preferred this gym over the one in Middletown. Even though it's a 15-minute drive compared to the half-mile distance of the Middletown location, I would choose to drive here any day. The Middletown gym is often overcrowded with rude teens and immature middle school boys running around naked in the locker room. This gym feels much safer and more comfortable. I will definitely be returning again soon!

Reasonably priced for a family of five, fantastic for the little ones, and instructors are very courteous.

I must say, the Glasgow YMCA is quite a gem. I've been a proud holder of a family membership for a good 4 months now, and I find myself utterly hooked on the group classes, attending at least 6 every week. The instructors are top-notch, with their friendly demeanor and the vibes they bring. The music sets the perfect tone, and there's this feeling of camaraderie that envelops you as you engage in the classes. It's heartening to see familiar faces who share the same enthusiasm for the classes as I do!
What truly sets the Glasgow YMCA apart are the family-oriented activities and events. I still recall the time when Santa graced us with his presence in the lobby area, and the kids were kept engaged with various activities. The event was impeccably organized, leaving my family thoroughly impressed. It was a thoughtful touch to have someone distributing cookies and milk, ensuring that the little ones didn't descend into chaos trying to grab as many treats as possible. And don't even get me started on the events featuring bounce houses – an absolute hit! Can't recommend this place enough.

I recently posted a review sharing my frustrations with the new automation system at Bear Glasgow YMCA. However, I received a voicemail from a Bear Glasgow YMCA representative that provided me with an explanation and a contact number. After this, I updated my review to reflect my satisfaction with the clarification. It's reassuring to witness an organization that is dedicated to customer service like Bear Glasgow YMCA. Many thanks for the assistance, and I'm really enjoying the new training center!!!
Tyler Johnson (9/18/25, 11:12 PM):
I have been a member at several gyms before, but I must say, the Bear YMCA is top-notch. The classes are absolutely incredible (body pump, body combat, GRIT, HIIT, and spin, just to name a few) and the instructors are fantastic. With two kids, having child care available is essential for me to be able to fit in a workout.
Amelia Bailey (9/18/25, 1:59 PM):
I had to give them a full five stars because they truly have earned every single bit of it and then some.
William Butler (9/16/25, 3:28 AM):
The friendliest and most helpful staff you could ever ask for! The gym is always spotless and well-maintained.
Diane Jackson (9/13/25, 9:28 PM):
I must say, I do enjoy visiting the gym, it has a pleasant atmosphere. However, I would appreciate it even more if individuals who resemble me didn't feel the need to monitor or control the actions of black patrons. We also pay for our memberships and deserve to feel welcome. For instance, my 2-year-old son prefers not to be left with strangers, so I brought his stroller and decided to exercise in the lobby where the machines are placed at a safe distance of 6 feet from each other. Surprisingly, I was informed that this was not allowed. I attempted to inquire about the reasoning behind this rule, but it seems that despite paying the full membership fee for my family, I am expected to simply comply without enjoying the benefits of my membership.

Recent Testimonial Update: It would appear that the sauna has been mended successfully and no longer undergoes fluctuations. I've also caught wind of fellow members expressing contentment with the improvements. Back when I was a member, the gym used to close its doors at 4 pm on weekends. While extending the closing time to 6 pm is a positive move, I personally feel that stretching it to 8 pm would be notably more convenient. Nonetheless, I maintain my staunch belief that this gym stands amongst the finest in Delaware, and its staff members are truly exceptional.
This gym has the potential to achieve a 5-star rating. The gym space and equipment are decent. The pool, exercise classes, and children's activities are impressive, although I haven't utilized them myself. The reason behind my 3-star rating rather than a perfect score lies in a few factors. Firstly, the cost. $85 for one adult is quite steep. For comparison, Edge Fitness recently increased their price to $40 per month. Secondly, the closing hours. On weekdays, they shut down at 9 pm, which isn't too bad, but extending it by an hour would be appreciated. On weekends, they close at 6 pm, whereas 8 pm would be far more preferable. They also wrap up pool, sauna, and basketball court activities 15 minutes early, which can be slightly bothersome. Lastly, the sauna temperature is never consistent. Some days you're met with 160 degrees (too low), and rarely do you reach the optimal 175-degree heat. If these three aspects were addressed, this gym would unquestionably justify the $85 monthly fee.
Jean Smith (9/11/25, 8:37 AM):
I had my child sign up for swimming lessons at the gym. They started at level 1. Since no one informed us, I assumed we would pay directly for levels 2-3 and beyond. When I inquired about moving to a higher level, they said there was no availability and asked me to wait for 2 months. As a result, I enrolled my child elsewhere and requested a refund from this gym. I also sent an email addressing this matter, but did not receive a response. It's frustrating that children who are already taking classes can't move up with priority. The system seems quite flawed in that regard.
Noah Lee (9/9/25, 5:08 AM):
Absolutely fantastic! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. My children adore going there. Without a doubt, the best YMCA I have ever visited!
Terry Mitchell (9/9/25, 3:10 AM):
The classes at this gym are absolutely brilliant, mate! There's a proper wide range of activities to pick from. The instructors are dead friendly and they're always pushing us to give it our all and improve. The place is spotless, even the showers! Couldn't be more chuffed with the experience, definitely worth every penny for the whole fam!
Anna Walker (9/7/25, 9:07 PM):
Do not even bother trying to ring them up with any inquiries you might have as they will simply disconnect the call on you. Their customer service agent Jason and the so-called "supervisor" are absolutely dreadful.
Kevin Gray (9/6/25, 9:48 PM):
Definitely a well-maintained gym, mate, but it's a bit on the crowded side. The only downside for me would be the state of the lockers. Rust is all over the place, to the extent that the floor gave in on one locker.
Brenda Cooper (9/6/25, 8:33 AM):
The YMCA Glasgow is a brilliant spot to get yer workout in with yer family and mates! The trainers are friendly and pay close attention to everyone's needs to ensure that everyone is exercising at their own pace. The staff is welcoming and fosters a strong sense of community!
Brian Gray (9/5/25, 1:15 PM):
I must say, this gym is top-notch! The staff is so friendly and the classes are fantastic with great instructors. The variety of classes available is impressive. And when you consider everything you get for the cost, it's actually quite reasonable.
Carol Powell (9/3/25, 12:27 AM):
This gym is top-notch for fitness enthusiasts who value a family-friendly environment. The hours are ideal, catering to even the busiest working professionals. Even during peak times, you can still enjoy a satisfying workout. Plus, the cleanliness is on point.
